The Village of Summit contracts with an independent firm for assessment services to fill the Appointed Statutory Position of Assessor. Grota Appraisals, LLC is the current firm and holds a two year contract with Summit (2013 - 2015).
The Assessor's main responsibility is to value all real and personal property according to state law.
The Assessor additionally holds monthly office hours at the Village Hall, field verifies new, razed and altered buildings, provides notice of changed assessments to residents, provides the official assessment roll to Village Clerk, holds annual Open Book inspections, and attends all sessions of the Board of Review.
